LIFE IN HAWAII: 10 Months

It's been 10 months in Hawaii and I finally bought things like a chair and a carpet to decorate my little ohana studio! Allowing myself to bring these objects into my living space is a sign that I'm allowing myself to plant roots (which is still something I'm not that comfortable with yet).
Giving myself permission to call Big Island home has been a process for me because I feel missed by friends in NYC and new friends here have recommended I turn Hawaii into my permanent residence; I still don't know how long I'm staying here but for now I do have a place to call home.
Living in Hawaii has been an unexpected gift to myself. I allowed myself to travel here under the pretense that I was taking a yoga teacher training but I knew I staying... I just didn't know for how long.
After my yoga training I resigned from my position as food editor and claimed writer in residence as my purpose for being here, however every time I start to write a specific story... I shift into a space of reflection and gratitude.
Besides the obvious intake of Vitamin D, sunrises, and rainbows, Hawaii has given me a look at myself internally. I've learned so much about myself in these past 10 months because I've given myself the space to understand my feelings, emotions, boundaries and connections.
I feel grateful for the lessons I've learned not just in Hawaii, but over the years in NJ, NYC, Italy and everywhere inbetween thanks to the people who have come in and out of my life for however long or short of a time period.
I look forward to sharing what I've been working on this month when the time is right but for now I just want to simply say thank you for teaching me and thank you for stay connected to me XO
