FOLLOW YOUR HEART

Everyone, and I literally mean everyone on the island asks me if I miss NYC. And I reply, "of course I do!" I miss the comforts of home, my community, the convenience of a subway, and being surrounded by a city full of people who chase their dreams and achieve them.

When I moved here 8 months ago, I actually didn't know if I wanted to call Hawaii home so I (involuntarily/voluntarily) lived in a tent, yes a tent, for 2 months (after completing a YTT intensive). I literally did things I never, ever thought I'd do when I lived in NYC and in a way, it helped me grow in gratitude.

Why am I telling you this?? I'm sharing this experience with you bc life isn't always easy. I knew moving here would be hard because "living aloha" is the complete opposite of everything I've ever known. And I think it's healthy to push boundaries in order to figure out what's important to you and which reality you want to create for yourself.

There are people here who buy VW camper vans so they can live by a park or waterfall and cruise to the next town to do the same thing the following week. Other people here are having spiritual experiences and live in nature. As for me, I live in something they call an ohana studio which is a little house... after my glamping experience I made sure I found an oceanside home with a private bathroom, internet, and electricity 😜

This post isn't saying which lifestyle is better... the point of this post is to recognize that we all have the power to chose our realities whether it's living in an apt in NYC, an ohana studio in Hawaii, a yurt in Bali, a van in Arizona, or wherever. If you follow your heart, it'll take you where you need to go or maybe it'll tell you just to stay where you are.

Bottomline: It's ok to give yourself permission to travel bc you can always go back home even if you create a new one, and sometimes your current home is exactly where you want to be 😎
